6th thru 8th Grade Novel Study
*FOR ALL NOVEL STUDY CLASSES: IF YOU ARE ABSENT FOR A NOVEL STUDY CLASS, YOU NEED TO MAKE UP THE CHAPTER(S) AND ACTIVITY PAGES THAT YOU MISSED BY THE NEXT CLASS MEETING.
6TH GRADE - This year we read Number the Stars and The Giver, both by Lois Lowry. In Number the Stars we follow Annemarie on her journey of bravery. In The Giver, we see the challenges Jonas faces as he receives his Assignment and learns the truth about his community.
7th GRADE - We start with Hatchet by Gary Paulsen then move on to The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. After those two books, the students will be able to choose the third book we read.
8th GRADE - We start with Holes by Louis Sachar then read The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Will the Greasers and the Socs ever get along? We also discuss some of the books they may see in high school.
*AFTER EACH BOOK, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO CHOOSE A MINI-PROJECT FROM A VARIETY OF OPTIONS. WE'LL WORK ON THEM IN CLASS AND YOU'LL NEED TO DO SOME AT HOME.*
